Quenched and tempered steels are widely used in the automotive industry, for the production of driving shafts, gears, bearings, etc.
These steels have good mechanical properties, excellent hardenability and good machinability. Furthermore, they offer an excellent mechanical resistance up to 500°C.
Another advantage of these steels is to have a significantly lower cost, if compared to the stainless steel one. The table shows the mechanical properties of quenched and tempered steels usually processed by Silcon Plastic Ltd.
